Smack in the middle

Happy Deepavali and holidays to all!

I have to admit it just like someone else has done. I really look forward to Deepavali just to the slacking, snacks and sweets! :)

Right smack in the middle of EOYs. English, Tamil Paper 1 and SS are over. All decently done. I have a good idea where my GPA will stand at the end of all this. And, it will be an improvement from PR2 (status quo) and quite a big improvement from last year. YEAH!!!

Chem, Maths, Phy, Geog, Bio and Tamil Paper 2 still remain. Right... Off to slack off now...

Where shall I start?

Right... To continue from where I left of about my renewed interest in reading, it hasn't died out. Not yet at least. I finished "The Kite Runner" long ago just after my ERP project. Yes, I was so interested that I bothered to finish reading it even after my ERP assignment was over. And then I started on the Third World War. It is a hypothetical story based on the author's perception of how a third world war may arise. Very interesting story, very well based on today's countries' ties with one another and other political situations currently. According to the story, top leaders from Pakistan and North korea work together to stir trouble in the Middle East and consequently start off a third world war. Although it is for very different political reasons, their aim is the same, to make eliminate the US title of the world superpower. A must-read for political enthusiasts. I personally loved it.

Next up, I began reading "The Tunnel of Time", an autobiography of R.K. Lakshman. Still on-going and I find it really interesting as such a cartoonist relates his experiences in a most chronological, but casual manner.

Other than books, many other interesting experiences in school life as well. Mostly sweet, and enriching. I just hope I can blog more often from now on so that I can actually record most of my interesting experiences. I have snowballed so many that I really dont know what to blog and what to leave out. Oh well... That's about it for this (good?) revival post.

Blog has revived!

Yay! It's been so long...

Returned to Rulang today. Saw everyone whom I wanted to see, although I couldn't spend much time catching up with teachers and ex-classmates. Very fulfilling and satisfying to be back to the place holding so many memories. Oh the primary school days... Sheer bliss...

To be truthful, I only felt an obligation to be posting here, because it is the end of the month. If I don't post at all this month, that would mean the month of August won't even appear in my archives. -.- I agree it is quite an anti-climax and dumb reason to be encouraged to post...

Oh well. You should be seeing more meaningful and value-adding posts soon from me... Good night!

Reading...

Been reading recently... The Power of the Subconscious Mind was a good self-help book. Great techniques, but rather dry. Don't read unless you really really crave for some great motivation and techniques to boost your life.

Ironweed by William Kennedy. For ERP. Kinda ok plot. Not the best kind of "cant put down" book, but rather interesting. Pulitzer prize winner. The author used a sort of accent in the narration, and that was a bit irritating and couldn't understand one or two sentences here and there.

Now reading "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini. Also for ERP. But this is a much better book. Really interesting but I had to very sadly spoiler myself by searching for summaries and reviews on the internet. Have ERP in-class assignment this week, and so I HAD to spoiler myself before finishing reading.

The next book on my agenda is The Third World War. Starting to somewhat get renewed interest in books again after I lost it in the beginning of Secondary. Hopefully I can sustain this great benefitial interest...

Competitive advert

Hahaha!!! Great advertising and competitive spirit from Audi and BMW. And of course BMW is definitely always the best! :)

Oh and holidays will not extend according to MOE. Hopefully it is the right choice and H1N1 does not spread like wildfire when school opens. I prefer if school doesn't close anyway, at least our Dec hols won't be tampered with!

Hols are getting better!

AC was fun. Passed quite a long time ago and quite sad that I am only blogging about it now. But yeah, AC was a great time spent with the patrol, totally relaxed with no worries of getting pumped every horseshoe, night calls, blisters etc.

Hols has been quite uneventful. Not too stressful this year. Fewer hmwrks and projects and a much more relaxed time. And holidays may just be prolonged due to the H1N1 outbreak. In which case there will be E-learning and RLP will be postponed. sigh... Shows how fragile the human population is...

Today in pics

There. That should be self explanatory of what I did today at scout unofficial activity. We shifted all these poles to RI from Braddell westlake. And then split it into patrols and bundled them up. This is of course in preparation for our annual camp, the only fun camp in a year. Later I was painting my patrol's banners for our campsite. In the entire day, thats how dirty (as well as sweaty, stinky) I got. Very exhausting day.

Also had RLP briefing today. Nothing new other than the tour of boarding. Boarding is a great place really. No regrets about RLP at all.

It's been a long while...

Sigh... End of term. Several things have happened. Exciting, important, positive, fun, boring. I have had the whole mix. An excellent semester overall. Not just because of great success in academics but also things like getting chosen for RLP (I).

Now come the holidays. First whole week gone for scouts camp. I seriously think 5 days camp + a few days of prep is too much time gone in the hols. And then gotta get down to homework. Definitely there will be time for entertainment and recreation before I head off to RLP boarding in Term 3. Really looking forward to it.

I shall inject something funny here. A few days ago I was walking home with a Sec 1 friend when we started talking about EPL soccer.

Me: What team do you support?
Him: Man U. Arsenal is not bad, liverpool is also quite good. But chelsea is so pathetic, they must as well become cheerleaders...

Lol. How frank. Not that I am going to comment about Chelsea since I dont care about EPL anyway.

Mumbai Indians crashed out in IPL. Second last. OMG. Deccan Chargers won by 6 runs against bangalore in finals. Both teams did really well and deserved a spot in the finals. The match could have gone either way. Perhaps there should be about 2-3 matches between finalists and then judge the best team based on aggregrate runs and wickets and NRR? That should really distinguish the finalists since a 6 run win is not convincing enough to crown a team as champions.

Alright. Now I am going to Flickr to upload some of my latest works. Shall post a slideshow kind of thing on the blog later tonite or some other day. Bye.

Argh, too fast

That was fast. 3 days blazed past too fast for comfort. Although I got quite a few things done, I still have some more work pending. Scout campfire is coming up soon, lots of preparation work. Very boring and monotonous work which is so time consuming. I can't wait to finish it and get over it. 1 whole day at Sarimbun camp. Just thinking of it makes me tired.

And my frequency of posts this year compared to last year is like comparing the frequency of radio waves (this year) to gamma rays (last year). Another 5 days to go. And yes, I saw your comment on the tagboard Alvin, sadly no holidays for quite some time... Sigh.
